Program Coordinator
Mayra A. Gonzalez is the Program Coordinator at Southwest Border AHEC. Prior to joining AHEC, Mayra worked as a Training Coordinator at the Small Business Development Center at Sul Ross State University for about 9 years. She began her career at SBDC in the role of a student worker and was eventually promoted to Program Support Specialist and lastly to Training Coordinator. She was in charge of coordinating community events, managing the main office in Maverick County, and assisting the Business Advisors from the SBDC service region. As the Training Coordinator, she also worked very closely with other counties including Kinney, Val Verde, Edwards, Real, Uvalde and Zavala. Mayra holds a certification in Clinical Laboratory technician from Mexico and a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics with minor in Psychology from Sul Ross State University. She recently obtained her Community Health Worker Instructor certification with Texas A & M University School of Public Health.
